Why climb for Clan?
Carol-Anne Donald (Pie), my sisters’ partner, was diagnosed with brain cancer in
July 2004 at the age of 26. During the next 2 years she lived her life with a determination
to get the most from every day. Her life was full of fun and laughter, alongside
periods of uncertainty, pain and worry. She travelled this journey with focus and
determination to fulfil a simple wish, 'to live in a nice flat.' She did this until
her death in November 2006.
She was not alone on this journey, she had the support of her family and friends,
and they all had the support of the wonderful organisation known as CLAN. Whose
holistic approach to cancer support, aims to improve the quality of life for those
affected either personally, as a family member, carer or close friend. Helping them
to relax, recover and find their smile.
